2 Day Skill Workshop

Objectives: Day 1
Review management of corneal abrasion and foreign bodies of the eye
Practice making corneal abrasion and removing foreign body
Identify wounds requiring closure and practice different techniques for suturing
Describe principles of irrigating wounds and perform irrigation and drainage of a simple skin abscess. Review indication and contraindications for plantar fasciitis injections, digital block, and carpal tunnel injection Perform listed injections on model/mannequins using palpation technique
Objectives: Day 2
Review indication and contraindications for shoulder and knee injections and occipital nerve block
Perform listed injections on model/mannequins using palpation technique
Describe pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of opioids
Review opioid guidelines and discuss implementation into practice
Discuss methods of weaning off opioids
Discuss various clinical scenarios for improve application for prescribing opioids
Suture classes are 4 hours
Practice different techniques for suturing
Joint injection Classes are 4 hours
Perform listed injections on model/mannequins using palpation technique:
Shoulder, knee, occipital nerve block, plantar fasciitis, wrist injection, and carpal tunnel
Suture and joint injection classes includes both 4 hour segments for 8 hour course
